HowManyLoads is a free utility site for bulk material estimates. Enter length, width, and depth — get cubic yards, an optional compaction buffer, approximate tons, bag counts when relevant, and how many truckloads to order.

Most calculators stop at yards. We push one step further to loads — including tandem dumps and semi end / side / belly dumps — because that’s how material usually arrives on site.

Materials

Soil tools cover fill dirt, topsoil, and mulch. The aggregates calculator covers gravel, Class 6 road base, recycled asphalt (RAP), natural rock sizes, and concrete rock sizes.

Default compaction/waste buffers, material densities (tons per cubic yard), and truck box volumes are starting points we chose from common industry ranges — not supplier specifications, lab tests, or guarantees. Real hauling capacity also varies with tractor/trailer empty weight, axle and bridge limits, and overweight permits. Always confirm quantities and loads with your quarry, landscape yard, or hauler before ordering.
